From 23 to 30 January of the current year, a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan was carried out by Ms. Silvia Jungbauer, Managing Director, and Mr. Sven Eriskat, International Expert, within the framework of the GUz Partners project, implemented with the support of Gesamtmasche and the Uztextileprom Association.

The visit program included a series of working meetings and field visits in the Kashkadarya, Namangan, and Fergana regions, as well as business meetings in Tashkent. The main objective of the visit was to strengthen partnership relations, discuss the current state and future prospects of the textile industry, and define directions for further cooperation within the second phase of the project.

Meetings in Tashkent

The first key meeting was held with the project’s main partner, the Uztextileprom Association, and took place with the First Deputy Chairman of the Association, Mr. Muhammadjon Jumaniyazov. During the meeting, the parties discussed current trends and challenges in the global textile industry, issues related to active support for enterprises, as well as prospects for further cooperation and joint initiatives within the GUz Partners project.

Kashkadarya Region — the Second Pilot Region of the Project

Within the visit to the Kashkadarya region, a meeting was held with the Governor (Khokim) of the region, Mr. Murotjon Azimov, during which the key directions and objectives of the project in the region were discussed in detail. It was noted that the Kashkadarya region will become the second pilot region of the project, taking the successful example of the Fergana Valley as a model. Participants discussed the development prospects of textile companies in the region and possible formats for further cooperation within the project.

The working group also visited Kashkadarya State University, where a meeting was organized with the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Mr. Abdulhamid Kholmurodov, and the university’s teaching staff. During a constructive and engaging discussion, opportunities for academic exchange of students and issues related to practice-oriented education were explored. The participants also visited the educational and production facilities of the university’s textile faculty.

At the end of the intensive day, with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kashkadarya region, a meeting was organized with representatives of regional textile companies. During the dialogue, prospects for further cooperation were discussed, and proposals from the business community were collected for subsequent inclusion in the project’s three-year action strategy.

Namangan Region

The next destination was the Namangan region, where the working group held negotiations at the regional Khokimiyat, as well as visited several leading companies, including NT Holding, Dilnur Tikuv, Istiqlol Dizayn Textile, and the UZTEST laboratory, established under the Uzstandard Agency. The meetings focused on issues of product quality, standardization, innovation, and the expansion of international cooperation.

Fergana Region

In the Fergana region, productive meetings were organized with Fergana State University, during which topics such as enhancing the scientific and technical level of specialist training, academic exchange through educational programs, and strengthening cooperation between academia and industry were discussed.

As one of the project’s strategic priorities is the support of women’s entrepreneurship, the delegation also visited a Women’s Community led by Ms. Dildora Alieva. The meeting provided a valuable platform for exchanging new ideas that could be implemented within the framework of the project.

In addition, a visit was made to one of the country’s leading textile clusters — Global Textile. During an insightful discussion with the company’s management, prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed, as well as opportunities to attract German partners and technologies to Uzbekistan’s textile industry.

Concluding Meetings in Tashkent

The final events of the visit included meetings in Tashkent, notably with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Uzbekistan, the Agency for the Development of Light Industry, and the Agency for Management Effectiveness under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During these meetings, key aspects of industry development, institutional cooperation, and further steps to deepen international collaboration were discussed.
