Weekly Training on Textile Material Dyeing with International Expert Matthias Koch: A Step Towards Strengthening Professional Competencies in Uzbekistan’s Textile Industry

As part of the Training of Trainers (ToT) program, implemented with the support of GESAMTMASCHE under the GUZ Partners project, a comprehensive week-long training session dedicated to textile material dyeing technologies took place in collaboration with the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry. A key event of the program was the participation of international expert from Germany, Matthias Koch, a representative of the Texoversum educational center, who has extensive experience in textile chemistry, sustainable production, and industrial consulting. This training continued the ToT program.

The goal of the event was not only to impart modern knowledge on textile dyeing but also to lay the foundation for further modernization of educational processes and production practices in Uzbekistan.

Participants in the training included representatives of the ToT program — Anvar Abdumajitov, Bobur Malikov, and Adkham Khamraev, who demonstrated high interest and engagement in the learning process. Thanks to such specialists, the ToT program continues to fulfill its main objective — to form a new generation of qualified teachers and mentors for Uzbekistan’s textile industry.

The program included in-depth theoretical sessions on the following topics:

• Properties and classification of dyes;

• Technologies for preparing fabrics for dyeing;

• Energy- and resource-saving methods;

• Environmental standards and sustainable production;

• Practical cases from international productions.

The educational week was structured in a logical sequence: from reviewing basic topics to delving into specialized technologies and concluding with a discussion of results. The main focus was on the following areas:

• Overview of basic concepts, types of dyes, and their applications.

• The topic of reactive dyes — dyeing cotton and blended fabrics.

• Dyeing technology for polyester fibers using disperse dyes.

• Methods for finishing dyed fabrics. Environmental aspects and sustainability of textile processes.

Particular attention was given to practical sessions held in the specialized laboratory of the Tashkent Textile Institute’s technopark. Participants worked with modern laboratory equipment, practiced dye selection methodologies, dyeing recipes, and monitored pH, temperature, and process duration. Matthias Koch not only shared his knowledge but also personally supervised laboratory sessions, providing practical advice on process optimization.

At the end of the training week, Matthias Koch was invited to an International Scientific and Practical Conference held at the institute. During the conference, he presented a report on the prospects for training qualified personnel for the modern textile industry and the significance of a sustainable approach in technological processes.

On the initiative of the institute, a round table was also organized with faculty members from the Department of Chemical Technology, where opportunities for adapting international experience into the educational program were discussed, as well as modernization of teaching laboratories, strengthening cooperation with industrial enterprises, and further steps for collaboration with Texoversum and other European educational centers.

The conducted training became an important milestone on the path to strengthening professional education in Uzbekistan’s textile sector. It not only provided participants access to modern knowledge and practices but also served as a platform for dialogue between science, production, and international experts.
