Results of the Fashion Design Training with Robert Herzog in Tashkent

From August 25 to 29, 2025, a unique five-day training on fashion design was held at the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, led by renowned German designer and educator Robert Herzog. The event was organized as part of the GUZ Partners project, with the support of the German Textile Association GESAMTMASCHE, and became an important milestone for the Uzbek fashion industry and education.

📌 Program and Key Highlights

The training brought together young designers, students, and professionals from the textile sector, providing them with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of fashion as a cultural phenomenon and a communication tool. Over five days, participants progressed from trend analysis to creating their own collections:

• Exploration of values and cultural codes in contemporary fashion.
• Study of trends and analytics (including the Lyst Index).
• Development of collection concepts, building a visual language, and working with mood boards.
• Practical sessions: sketching, fabric and color selection, and collection presentation.
• Final portfolio presentations and discussions with the expert.

Robert Herzog placed special emphasis on the influence of art, digital technologies, and subcultures on style development, as well as the importance of the designer’s personal identity in creating collections.

The final stage involved presenting participants’ original projects. Each work reflected an individual vision of fashion and cultural codes. Robert Herzog provided valuable recommendations for developing ideas and preparing portfolios for the international level.

Participants noted that the training helped them not only enhance their professional skills but also gain a new perspective on fashion—as a language that unites history, art, technology, and social processes.

The conducted training exemplified how international cooperation in education and fashion opens new opportunities for Uzbek designers. The experience gained from an expert with over 25 years of practice in Europe will contribute to the development of new creative projects and strengthen Uzbekistan’s position on the global fashion industry map.
