From 3 to 7 August, the GUZ Partners Project, implemented by the German Textile Industry Association (Gesamtmasche) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through sequa gGmbH, held an international training seminar and a series of specialised workshops for fashion design professionals in Tashkent.

 

International Seminar-Training on Modern Fashion Design: Knowledge, Practice and International Cooperation

From 3 to 7 August, the GUZ Partners Project, implemented by the German Textile Industry Association (Gesamtmasche) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through sequa gGmbH, held an international training seminar and a series of specialised workshops for fashion design professionals in Tashkent.

The event was organised in close cooperation with the Agency for the Development of the Light Industry under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uztextileprom Association, and the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry (TITLP).

The five-day course was delivered by international fashion and textile design expert Robert Herzog, who has many years of professional experience and has worked with leading international brands, including Hugo Boss AG and Laurèl.

The intensive five-day programme combined theoretical and practical sessions covering key aspects of the contemporary fashion industry, including:

current developments and key trends in the market for sustainable and environmentally friendly textile materials;
global trends in the fashion business and analysis of the needs of today’s market;
professional approaches to developing moodboards and collections using Moodboards & Concept Mapping;
practical recommendations for developing professional portfolios in line with international standards.

As part of the seminar, a meeting was also held between the GUZ Partners team, international expert Robert Herzog, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, and Khalida Khafizovna Kamilova, Chairwoman of the Association of Designers of Uzbekistan “Osiyo Ramzi”.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the current state, development prospects and potential of the fashion industries in Uzbekistan and Germany. They also discussed opportunities for further bilateral cooperation and the joint implementation of specialised educational programmes and training courses.

The international seminar marked an important step towards strengthening the professional capacity of university teaching staff, textile and garment industry specialists, practising designers and students. The programme provided participants with an opportunity to gain valuable international experience and develop professional competencies aligned with the current requirements of the global fashion industry.

The GUZ Partners Project continues to strengthen professional and international links between the textile and garment industries of Uzbekistan and Germany. Through its educational initiatives, the project not only facilitates the exchange of up-to-date knowledge and practical expertise, but also creates a foundation for long-term partnerships, enhances the international competitiveness of Uzbek manufacturers and designers, and contributes to the further development of Uzbekistan’s light industry.
