With the support of Gesamtmasche and within the framework of the GUZ Partners program, representatives of the Hohenstein Academy — Marc Rabah and Joanna Riedel — visited Uzbekistan.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the field of sustainable textile production, to promote international quality and OEKO-TEX® certification standards, and to exchange experience in environmentally responsible management.

 

Visit of Hohenstein Academy Representatives to Uzbekistan within the GUZ Partners Program

With the support of Gesamtmasche and within the framework of the GUZ Partners program, representatives of the Hohenstein Academy — Marc Rabah and Joanna Riedel — visited Uzbekistan.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the field of sustainable textile production, to promote international quality and OEKO-TEX® certification standards, and to exchange experience in environmentally responsible management.

In Tashkent, productive meetings were held with the Uzstandart Agency, the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, and the Uztextileprom Association. During these meetings, the parties discussed the prospects for implementing international certification standards, enhancing the competitiveness of textile products, and developing educational programs in the areas of quality and sustainability.

The delegation also visited Zelal Textile, where modern approaches to production management and the implementation of OEKO-TEX® standards were presented.

A key highlight of the visit was the panel session held within the framework of Heimtextil Uzbekistan 2025, dedicated to the topic “Sustainability and OEKO-TEX® Certification.”
The discussion featured Marc Rabah, Joanna Riedel, and Malika Akramova, Project Manager of Gesamtmasche in Uzbekistan. Participants discussed current trends in international certification, the role of environmental standards in increasing the export potential of Uzbek textiles, and future opportunities for cooperation with European partners.

As part of the regional program, the delegation visited the Fergana and Kashkadarya regions.

In Fergana, a training session on OEKO-TEX® certification was held at the Fergana Polytechnic Institute, attended by representatives of numerous textile companies from the region. Participants gained practical knowledge about international certification requirements, certification stages, and the possibilities of integrating these standards into production processes.
During the visit, the delegation also visited Forest Color and Global Textile, where they learned about modern dyeing and textile processing technologies.

In the Kashkadarya region, the training took place at the Indorama enterprise and gathered representatives of local companies and organizations. The delegation held meetings with Governor Murotjon Azimov and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kashkadarya region – Mirshod Qurbonov, discussing further steps for promoting OEKO-TEX® certification and sustainable development in the region.
Additionally, the guests visited leading enterprises of the region — Safko, Sultan Tex, and Indorama, where they exchanged experience on improving quality standards and environmental responsibility.

The visit of the Hohenstein Academy representatives became an important milestone in strengthening German-Uzbek cooperation. It contributed to building stronger dialogue between business, educational, and governmental institutions and opened new opportunities for enhancing the international competitiveness of Uzbek textiles.
